About Grief
Coping with Loss or Grief
Grief is the normal and natural reaction
to loss. Rather than defining stages of grief which can be
confusing, we prefer to
help each person find their own way to express the thoughts and
feelings that may keep one from working through their grief. We
all bring different and varying beliefs to the losses that occur
in our lives, and we perceive and feel differently about each
loss.
Unresolved grief is almost always about undelivered communications
of an emotional nature. There are a whole host of feelings that
attached to those unsaid things: happiness, sadness, love, fear,
anger, relief, compassion. We need to learn how to communicate
those feelings and then say goodbye to the relationship that
has ended.
The above is an excerpt of an article written by Russell
Friedman and John W. James of the Grief Recovery Institute
